Nitartha Summer Institute July 6 – August 4, 2018

The Nitartha Summer Institute offers systematic and in-depth study on the central teachings of the Buddhist tradition, upholding the importance of non-sectarianism. At Nitartha, we appreciate the many forms of Buddhism and welcome students from all traditions and backgrounds!

Nitartha provides a unique opportunity for students to be immersed in intellectual studies while simultaneously experiencing in-person teachings from a genuine Buddhist lineage. Throughout the summer, debate and analytical meditation allow students to gain a deeper and more personal understanding of the teachings. Students studying the Tibetan Language will benefit from hearing the Tibetan language spoken and translated and being around native speakers and master translators. And the unique retreat environment creates a caring community and offers ample occasions for discussion and connection between students.

Students can choose to focus on studying Buddhism as a science of mind (Shedra) or to focus on teachings and meditation practice (Gomdra).

The Nitartha Shedra curriculum offers such a clear, deep, and precise presentation of many complex Buddhist tenet systems. This has offered me the necessary frameworks and highly specific vocabulary to effectively and more accurately engage in various writings from the textual tradition, as well as have a more informed eye when reviewing academic scholarship on the various Buddhist schools. Exceptional Teachers in a Beautiful Place

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche

We’re cultivating our intelligence as opposed to expanding or upgrading its contents. It’s like brightening a room by putting a higher-watt lightbulb in a lamp. Suddenly we can see everything in the room much more clearly.
