While at the University of Colorado, you can spend time with faculty and fellow students during meals, enjoy spontaneous conversations when on break and visit with each other in the dorm’s common areas.

The dorms are new, built just 5 years ago. The dorm building has laundry facilities and Wi-Fi and high-speed internet. There is also a small recreation center nearby that is available for our use, and the main campus has a large one that we can use, both of which are free of charge.

HOUSING

A limited number of dorm rooms are available. Register early to secure yours!

All rooms have dressers, desks, a microwave, microfridge and two single beds. You can rent one room for yourself, or share with a friend or your partner. Bathrooms are down the hall. They have a shared entryway but each shower and toilet is in its own private room.

The beds are waist high for an average 5-foot 5-inch person. If you have a disability that would make it not possible for you to reach the bed please contact the registrar at eweiss@nitarthainstitute.org.

MEALS

The University of Colorado prepares its meals with vegetables freshly grown from their own greenhouses. A variety of meal options will be available, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Read about the university’s “Food Sourcing, Safety and Sustainability.

THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND BOULDER

Boulder is a beautiful city in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just 30 minutes northwest of Denver, “where the Rocky Mountains meet the plains.” It is a spiritual place, with Naropa University, which was founded by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and many Rinpoches having visited from different traditions. Boulder is also home to hundreds of Tibetans.

A short distance from the University of Colorado campus, you can walk in nature along the Boulder Creek path, or enjoy the lively and popular Pearl Street Mall, just a mile away, with its local breweries, amazing food scene, and public art, fountains and sculptures. You might even catch some incredible street performers.

Here are some of the activities you can find in and around Boulder.
